how i learned flow
I saw my friend once reading 'Ikigai' and claiming that he has finished it in two days that raised my emotions for the book. I wasn't aware of the number of pages it had and i thought it ia a heavy bulky book because it mentioned Japanese methods for attaining longevity.
After one and half year , i put my courage altogether to purchase a combo of three books worth 280 rupees only. I was pretty excited for going through Ikigai at the first.
First five days went so nicely i was enjoying but to be honest I lost interest (horrible though) and my busy schedule and shit college responsibilities forced me to put the book off only on my table. Bookmark was stagnant and enjoying the most depressing time of his lifetime.
After i guess 20 days of some consistency in college and my NGO work, i again assembled my courage to finish the unfinished innocent one. And within 3 days while coming back to home from college in the bus I finished, huh.
can you see Ikigai sitting poorly there while I'm ignoring it ? It used to be this way during those boring days!)
Now coming to intention, that is writing review, I'll firstly thank my NGO fellow, respected person for me throughout lifetime, who inspired me to write book review every book i read. And here I'm.
Ikigai never told the meaning of Ikigai directly anywhere in the whole book but did let its readers to find it themselves.
This is what Ikigai actually means, to find yourself and your flow in your life.
I don't know if i went wrong while writing but I'm writing what i learned. While reading i was taking a lot of pictures and many a times reading it during my class or many a times while putting earphones on. I was violating norms of the book and then came the concept of multitasking . I was embarrassed towards the book. And stopped doing the same mistakes i did in my previous books. It taught , being a multitasking (which looks vibrant) isn't worth it. Because there will come distribution of our concentration towards any particular goal. This is the best thing I found in Ikigai.
Another was about attaining flow. Although I remain honest to myself most of the times, still i many a times I do things which never puts me in my flow. Then regrets , depression , grief , etc all slap my back hard then. Better not to do anything which isn't giving you better results at bad time. I've been sleeping instead of using my phone during my bad mood. It has many benefits:- eyes get lesser harms , sleep improves mood, no more bad ideas for the bad times. Sleeping isn't that thing I'm obsessed with. Honestly I hardly sleep for more than 7 hrs and I'm very active. And being active is my flow. Ikigai told me sometimes you need a break from your flow even. That would enhance the quality of that flow.
Now some other key points which Ikigai emphasised and i liked also.
1. Stay active , don't retire :- my plans are already which are quite secret (won't reveal here ). My activeness at this moment doesn't want to retire. I hope everything allows me to remain the same.
2. Take it slow :- I'm person who will either stop and appreciate a sparrow feeding her babies rather than picking bus. I hate hustle-bustle of the world. I know wasting time isnt good but sometimes it's okay to be honest and late .
3. Eat less :- Stop eating when you feel 80% full.
4. Stay around good friends :- Always trying to have good peers . Besides I declare Google my best friend and newspaper my boyfriend officially. I hope it wouldn't hurt my future husband ( sorry darling).
5. Get in shape for your next birthday :- lost 13 kgs again in 1 year (it was a fruitful and pateint journey, i loved it )
6. Smile :- it's the prettiest ornament one can wear.
7. Live in the moment :- stop running after the lust going on in your mind . Enjoy while dining , enjoy while having time with family, enjoy while being with your pet ,enjoy while walking in the park and enjoy while reading my blog.
8. Give thanks :- gratitude is the best gift one can give to himself or to others and i admire it honestly and doing since 3 years i guess. This habit has made me love every important person more important to me. This is the habit which has made me more extrovert and expressing.
9. Reconnect with nature :- honestly telling you , i never admired nature till i got 15 because I was gifted abundantly. And i took it for granted . Thanks to the heartbreak i got at 15( heartbreak was about that nothing is permanent) , i got attached with nature badly very badly.
10. Find your Ikigai :- the last and most important thing Ikigai deals with till the end. I won't drop words for it . Just go , read and find your own ikgai , LoL.
And this is how my Ikigai journey went and I'm blessed after reading this book.
